Hey Falsh;

Enjoyed your pics of your San Antonio Division Layout.
I saw your'e also wanting to model Flatonia.
I used to live there from 1974-96
and I have pretty good memories of the town and the SP.

From what I can tell, your'e modeling the SP sometime in the
mid/late 60's-early 80's.

Anyway,if your'e accurately modeling Flatonia, here's a few details:The Depot was closed in '76-77 and dismantled in 1978 as was
the Schulenburg Depot.

Tower 3 remained open until the Fall of'96 after the UP Merger.
However,a group of citizens preserved the tower and moved it
into downtown Flatonia.

Flatonia never had too many rail served businesses.
Outside of Milwhite Inc. which is right outside Flatonia on Hwy.95 North, the only other businesses I remember that received shipments
by rail were Mica Feed Company and
Farek Paving.

There was a spur line that swung
off the DALSA Line and went behind the business district and ended at
Mica Feed.

Farek Paving received an occassional gondola or hopper carload of asphalt and Mica Feed
received an occassional boxcar load
of feed until the early 80's.

Sometime in the early 80's,the SP removed the turnout thereby disconnecting the spur line,
then they reconnected it a year later only to abandon the spur line
completely and remove the rails and ties by'89 or 90.

Also,in the 80's,the SP built a wye off the Main Line to connect to
the Shiner Branch.

Hope this helps.
